Obituary

Paul Anthony Harper, age 63, of Concord, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, following a period of declining health.

Paul was born in Boston on June 12, 1961, the son of the late Melvin "Gary" and Helen (O'Brien) Harper. Paul is survived by his three siblings, Michael Harper, Denise Carr and her husband Timothy and Richard Harper and his wife Deborah. He also leaves behind his nieces, nephews and great nephews.

Paul was a gentle soul who thrived in life despite being born with a disability and many limitations. His loving parents provided every opportunity for Paul to experience a typical childhood which included bike riding, ice skating, boy scouts, summer camp and many family vacations.

As an adult, Paul took part in the Special Olympics for many years. He competed in several sports including bowling, frisbee toss and basketball. He won dozens of medals, both individually and as part of a team.

A lifelong Concord resident, Paul loved living in his hometown until his passing, and was a familiar face around town for decades. Through Minuteman Arc, Paul was employed for over 20 years as a Mail Clerk for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Concord. Paul received a certificate of recognition from the Army Corps for expertly handling over half a million pounds of incoming and outgoing mail during his tenure.

Paul enjoyed traveling with his family, seeing much of the United States through the years, and enjoying many cruises. He loved to take day trips with Drew's Trips. His favorites involved long train rides, and trips to local casinos where he excelled at playing the quarter slot machines and is alleged to have frequently won. He also loved eating out at his favorite restaurants.

Paul was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan. He followed the teams through good seasons and bad without fail. In Paul's honor, we encourage attendees at his services to dress casually and wear Red Sox or Celtics gear.

Family and friends will gather for a period of visitation in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 10 am to 11:30 am.
