Patrick Raleigh died unexpectedly due to complications following an aneurysm on the 26th of May 2014. He was 75 years old. He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas and attended Dartmouth College, earning a degree in French and Art. He studied abroad at the Sorbonne in Paris after graduating. He subsequently entered the Air Force and was stationed in Greece where he met his future wife, Marilynn. They married in Crete and once Patrick's service was completed, they lived as expats in Spain, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
For much of Patrick's career, he was an advertising copywriter. Most recently he worked at the Massachusetts Medical Society. He loved the written word and was fluent in French and Spanish, and recently was learning Portuguese. Always intellectually curious and creative, Patrick loved books, and opera, and he was a talented painter. He once had coffee with Salvador Dali.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marilynn, and his son, Nikos, his daughter-in-law, Liz, his granddaughter Paige, his brother-in-law Gunther Palm of Carmel, CA, and his niece Fiona Siddiqui of San Jose, CA. A true family man, Patrick built his life around his wife and son Nikos. He took special joy as a grandfather in spending time with Paige. He was a generous, kind, and gentle man and he will be deeply missed.
Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home of Concord. Services will be private.
