Patricia M. (Cawston) McKenna, age 86, a woman whose life centered around her family, died peacefully at Holy Trinity Nursing Home in Worcester on Monday, July 20, 2026. She was the wife for 52 years of the late Thomas E. McKenna, who passed away in 2012.
She was born on May 5, 1940 to her late parents, Richard and Edna (Cole) Cawston. A daughter of South Boston, she was raised and educated in a community that shaped her generous spirit and lifelong friendships. For many years, she resided in East Boston, and more recently, in Acton. Pat worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for decades as an Administrative Assistant.
She will be remembered for her hard work ethic and unwavering devotion to her family. She enjoyed reading, attending theatre performances and countless vacations over the years.
Those who knew and loved Pat will miss her kindness, positivity and strength. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel like a trusted friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love, grace and goodwill.
Pat was the beloved mother of Sherrie Flynn and her husband Charles of Rutland, MA, Patricia Howard and her husband Daniel of Cape Elizabeth, ME and Thomas McKenna and his wife Jenine of Concord, MA; the proud Nana to her grandchildren, Andrew, Ryan, Colleen, Shannon, Erin, Daniel, Thomas and Riley, along with her great-grandchildren, Malcolm, Waverly and Carson. She was the dear sister of James Cawston and his wife Alice, Alan Cawston and his late wife Margaret and Alice Adams and her husband John. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cherished extended relatives in the McKenna and Cawston families.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a period of visitation in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Wednesday, July 29 from 9:00 to 10:30 am. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am in St. Bernard’s Church at Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square, Concord Center. To view the church live stream, please click here. Burial services will be held on Thursday, July 30 at 1:30 pm at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne.
