Patricia Barbara Magee

October 2, 1942 — February 1, 2026

Patricia Barbara Magee died from complications of Alzheimer’s disease on February 1, 2026 at the age of 83, at Emerson Hospital, in Concord, MA.

She was born in Florissant Missouri on October 2, 1942. She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High in 1960 and received her bachelor’s degree from St. Louis University in 1965.

She taught high school English in the Ferguson-Florissant School District for several years before moving to Boston where she completed a master’s degree at Boston University. She was an avid gardener, creating a garden at The Habitat for Humanity in Belmont, MA, where she was employed, as well as her own gardens at her residence of 40 years at Coolidge Road, in Arlington. She had various jobs such as working for Mother Care Services, (new mothers), and Drumlin Farm, Lincoln, MA as a teacher. Pat was also a garden consultant for many.

She leaves her husband, Oakes Plimpton, a son, Robin, daughter-in-law Erin, two grandchildren, Andrew (10) and Ryan (6), and siblings Tom, John, Jeanne, Dan, Kate and Mike.

She shared her husband’s interest in bird watching, witnessing Sandhill crane migrations in the Midwest and the birds of the Everglades and Lake Okeechobee in Florida. Pat enjoyed singing and dancing to all popular music. She never missed a beat or forgot the lyrics. She became an avid sports Mom fan and loved playing with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at the First Parish Church, 630 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington on Saturday May 2nd at 2 pm.
