Norbert Alfred Balles, 89 of Carlisle, MA and formerly of Midfield Road, Feasterville, PA, died peacefully on August 18th after a brief illness at the Kaplan Family Hospice Home in Danvers, MA. He was born in Burgstadt am Main, Germany on January 21, 1925 to Josef Balles and Hilde (Helmstetter) Balles. Norbert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anna (Moser) Balles, his son Eric Balles of Carlisle, MA, his daughter Edie (Balles) Neidhardt of Boxford, MA, his brother Josef Balles of Germany, his sister Grete (Balles) Werner of Germany and grandchildren Daniel Balles of Malden, MA, Emily Neidhardt of Orlando, FL, Josef Balles of Vienna, VA, Matt Neidhardt of Boxford, MA, Suzy Balles and Maria Balles of Carlisle, MA. Norbert immigrated to the US from Germany in 1953, first taking a job at Ford Automobiles in Flint Michigan, then moving to Philadelphia, PA and returning to the vocation of cabinetmaker for which he was trained in Germany. He finally settled with his family in 1968 in Feasterville, Bucks County, PA and worked for many years as a cabinetmaker for Oskar Huber Fine Furniture in Southampton, PA. Upon retirement, he and his wife Anna moved to Carlisle in 1994 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. A private funeral Mass was held at St. Irene's Roman Catholic Church on August 20 and Norbert's burial was in Green Cemetery in Carlisle.
