Millicent L. (Maguire) Doherty, 74, of Fitchburg, formerly of Charlestown and Concord, died Friday, November 14, 2014 at her Fitchburg home. She was the loving wife of the late Hugh K. Doherty Sr.
Born in Lowell on December 25, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Joseph T. and Alice L. (Tumelty) Maguire. She attended Lowell public schools and graduated from Lowell High School, class of 1957. She attended St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing in Brighton and attended Northeastern University in Boston.
For twenty years, prior to her retirement, Mrs. Doherty was employed as a Registered Nurse for Hospice.
She was the devoted mother to Hugh K. Doherty, Jr. of Dorchester, Anne Doherty and Michael Williams of Marlborough, Sheila DePuydt and her husband Joseph of Loveland, OH, Sean E. Doherty and his wife Karen of Finksburg, MD, Joseph T. Doherty of Arcata, CA, Kathleen McMurray of Middlebury, VT, Siobhan Smith and her husband Jonathan of Maynard, sister of Kathleen Maguire Houghton and her husband Jonathan of Edmonds, WA, her beloved companion, Richard Yeddo of Westminister, 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Michael J. Doherty and sister of the late John Maguire and Joseph T. Maguire, Jr.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 18th at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER from 4 to 7 PM.
Funeral will be on Wednesday, November 19th from the Dee Funeral Home at 9:30 am followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 10:30 am.
Burial at a later date will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Lowell.
