Mildred G. (O'Dowd) Valliere, 94, of Lexington, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Salter Healthcare Center in Winchester. She was the beloved wife for 39 years of the late Francis P. Valliere who died in 1990. They were married in Lexington on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1949.
Born in Arlington on April 17, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Philip S. and Rose A. (Ferry) O'Dowd. She attended Lexington public schools and graduated from Lexington High School in 1942.
Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Valliere worked as a telephone operator for Exide Battery Corporation in Boston.
A lifelong resident of Lexington, Mrs. Valliere was an avid dressmaker and seamstress. She volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader and Cub Scout leader. She was a member of the Women's Sodality of St. Bridget's Church in Lexington. For many years she helped care for her family.
She was the loving mother of Richard Valliere and his wife Janice of Lexington, Stephen Valliere and his wife Ruth of Fremont, NH and Karen Russell and her husband Stephen of Stoneham. She was the devoted grandmother of Stephen Valliere Jr. and his wife Nicole of Amesbury and Rebecca Casey and her husband Mark of Burlington and loving great grandmother of Jenna Valliere and Joshua Casey. She was pre-deceased by her siblings, Dorothy O'Dowd and Philip O'Dowd.
Visiting hours will be held at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, CONCORD CENTER on Tuesday, October 24th at 8:30 AM followed by funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord at 10 AM.
Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne on Tuesday, October 24th at 1:45 PM.
