Michael ("Mike") Leonard Joyce of Leominster, MA, formerly of Concord, MA passed away at his home surrounded by his family after a short, but hard fought battle with cancer on July 28, 2017 at age 54. He was the loving husband of Leah (Centore) Joyce and father to Michael. Mike is survived by his parents Loeta and Bradford Joyce of Worcester, Ma., sisters Nancy Ayers of Aurora, NY, Amy & husband Tom Knutilla of Ann Arbor, MI, brother David and wife Jo of Martha's Vineyard, MA, nieces and nephews Rachel, Lo, Sam, Bobby, Nathan, Alex and Tricia. He is reunited with his late brother Karl Joyce and brother in law Avery Ayers. Mike was raised in Concord Massachusetts and a graduate of Concord Carlisle High School and UMASS Stockbridge School of Agriculture. He spent 25 years in the environmental field as both a geologist and environmental driller at Hydro Environmental, Technical Drilling Services and Drilex Environmental. He recently shifted his career to his passion of turf grass management at Sterling National Country Club. Mike was an avid fisherman and was a gifted custom rod building artist. His custom fishing rods can be found in the hands of hundreds of New England fisherman and were featured in several publications. He was a co-founder of the North East Rod Building group (NERBs) where he shared and taught his craft with others in the field. Mike was a member of the New Hampshire Pyrotechnics Association and was known to spend weekends lighting up the sky bringing joy to many people young and old. Mike was a passionate man and everything he took on he did with vigor, humor and determination. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Visiting hours for Mike are on Thursday, August 3rd from 4 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. His funeral service will be held on Friday, August 4th at 10 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord.
