Melvyn H. Harris, age 90, of Lincoln, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2022. He is survived by his wife Nancy, their son Adam Harris of Sheffield, MA, their daughter Hannah Kenny of Bedford, MA, her husband Jim Kenny, and granddaughter Abigail Kenny. Mel was born in Lynn, grew up in Dorchester, and graduated from Boston Latin High School. He was accepted to Harvard University at age 16, where he was a member of the swim team. He received the accreditation of Doctor of Medical Dentistry at Tufts Dental School. After graduation, he joined the US Army as a Captain at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Mel started his very successful oral surgery practice in Kenmore Square in Boston, MA. As his practice grew, Mel taught his surgical procedures around the world. Among Mel's hobbies, he became an excellent fly fisherman after meeting and becoming friends with the world-famous Jack Gartside at an annual fly-tying event. After that meeting, he was, "hooked," and practiced his art along with Jack and other friends on many fishing destinations around the world, but most often out of his home-port in Winthrop, MA aboard his boat, Wind Knott. At the time of his passing, he was one of the oldest members of the Norfolk Trout Club where he made many lifelong friends. As a sports enthusiast, Mel also enjoyed attending the Bean Pot hockey tournament as well as the annual Red Sox opening day. He was also the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Radio Frequency Company based in Millis, MA, where he liked to spend his Wednesday afternoons discussing the company's endeavors and heartedly greeting all of the company's employees with equal enthusiasm. Mel will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A gathering to honor his life and legacy will be held at a date to be determined.
