Maura Nestor
Bullock
April 2, 1939 – August 18, 2025
Maura Nestor Bullock, a longtime resident of Acton, MA, passed away after a brief illness while at her summer home on Frye Island, ME on August 18, 2025.
Maura is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, Robert (Bob) Bullock, their daughter, Elizabeth (Gregory) May of Suffolk, Virginia, her beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Ethan & Erin, and many extended family members and friends.
Maura was born in the Bronx, NY on April 2, 1939, to Mary Nestor (Blake) and Francis Xavier Nestor Esq. She attended the College of New Rochelle and spent many years with the Congregation of Notre Dame in Connecticut teaching English in several high schools in New York and Connecticut. She earned a master's degree in English literature from Notre Dame University and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Harvard University in 1978.
Maura devoted herself to the world of education and accepted a position at Burlington High School (MA) in 1974 as English Department Chair and was a beloved AP English teacher until her retirement in 2004. After retirement, she continued mentoring young teachers working toward teaching certification in the public schools.
Maura dedicated her retirement to loving her three grandchildren who spent many summers with her at Sebago Lake in Maine where the children became excellent swimmers. She traveled frequently to Tyler & Ethan's swim meets in Kentucky and Erin's soccer games in Virginia. She will be loved and missed dearly by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Please join us to celebrate her life with a visitation on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, 89 Arlington Street, Acton, MA on Wednesday morning, August 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Saint Bernard's Cemetery, Concord, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
