Obituary

Mary E. (Leger) Sawyer, 66, of Concord, formerly of Westford, Waltham and Canada, died Friday, January 9, 2015 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. She was the beloved wife for 39 years of Zoel A. Sawyer. Born in Barachois, New Brunswick, Canada on May 8, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Didace Leger and Eliza (Leblanc) Leger. She came to the United States at a young age and attended Waltham public schools. Most recently, Mrs. Sawyer was a nurse's aide for the Right-at-Home Agency. Previously, she worked as a janitor for the Westford Police Department. A Concord resident since 2009, she enjoyed cooking and watching the Food Network programs, reading, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed camping and attending Bluegrass Festivals in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. She was a resident of Westford from 1975 to 2009. In addition to her husband, Zoel, she is survived by her children Jason C Sawyer, Melissa S. Collins, and her husband Eric Collins, a granddaughter, Mikayla Desroches, her brother Raymond Leger, her sister Lucy Funderburk, aunts, uncles, many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Doris Clemens. There will be a celebration of life for Mary on Feb. 7th at 11 am at the Franco American Club, 55 Prescott Street, Westford, MA. Contributions in her memory may be made to American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, 5th floor, Boston, MA 02210. Arrangements are under the care of Susan M. Dee and Charles W.
