Obituary

Mary Mulrean passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2024 at her home in Brighton, at the age of 68. She is survived by her daughters Tess and Sarah, as well as her siblings Linda, Diane, and Peter.

Mary was an accomplished attorney with expertise in immigration and asylum matters. She had a successful career in Washington and Miami, primarily in government, but also in private practice. Mary held numerous key positions in immigration operations and judicial review over three decades with the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Justice.

But Mary will be most remembered for her warm and generous spirit, her devotion to family and friends, her quick laugh and love of life. Following the sudden death of her husband Robert Wiemann in 2008, Mary made the happiness and full development of her daughters the central theme of her life. Likewise, during the final years of her mother's struggle with dementia, Mary moved her to a care facility near her own home and was a daily and reassuring presence for her mother to the end.

Mary moved home to Boston in 2019 to be close to her daughters, her sisters, and her dear friend and companion, Norris. She fully embraced retired life, threw herself into yoga, fitness, local culture and community activities, making new friends and bringing a little sunshine everywhere she went. Mary left us too soon, but her kindness and irrepressible embrace of life linger in all of us.

There will be a service to celebrate Mary's life at St. Anne's in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, 147 Concord Road, Lincoln, on Sunday, July 14 at 1 pm. Those so inclined will reconvene following the service at Cedar Hill Dairy Joy, 331 North Ave, Weston. Family and friends will also gather to celebrate Mary's life during visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Monday, July 15 from 4 to 6 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please considering donating to one of the charities that Mary held near to her heart, including: the Alzheimer's Association , Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) to support Juvenile Diabetes research, or the Boston Public Library .

Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
