Mary (McKenna) FitzPatrick, 76, of Falmouth, MA, affectionately known as Muffie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Falmouth Hospital. She was the loving wife for 53 years of Dermot FitzPatrick.
Muffie grew up in Concord, MA. She was a graduate of Rose Hawthorne High School and Emmanuel College in Boston. She was married to Dermot in 1967 and lived in Lexington, Massachusetts for close to 40 years before moving to Falmouth. She was a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for over 25 years. She was also an active volunteer at Lexington's St Brigid's parish, including leading relocation efforts for Vietnamese refugees in Boston and later with the Falmouth food bank.
Muffie enjoyed spending time with her seven grandchildren and frequently hosted them for visits to Falmouth's beaches and day trips to Martha's Vineyard. She was also a vocal attendee at the track and swim meets, cross country races, hockey, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, football and baseball games of her siblings, children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she will be forever missed by her daughter, Mara Lappin of Dedham (husband Josh), three sons, Dermot Jr. of Chicago (wife Becky), Edward of Westwood (wife Lauren), and Conor of West Medford (wife Masha), seven grandchildren, Molly, Jack, Seamus, McKenna, Emma, Keira and Oscar, sister in law Mary Sue McKenna, her sister, Pat Tobin and her husband Bill of Concord, and two brothers, Timothy McKenna and his wife Debby of Bluffton, SC and Edward McKenna and his wife Julie of Hilton Head, SC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Edward McKenna, and her brother, Mark McKenna.
Family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Sunday, December 27th from 1 to 4 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Due to COVID restrictions, a private funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord.
