Mary Ellen McCurdy of Weston, Massachusetts Mary Ellen McCurdy lived her life for her family and loved ones. She was a shining light for those she came in contact with as well as a devoted and loving wife and mother who will be missed by all. She loved to cook, garden, host get-togethers, craft up her infamous "batches" and always made sure that anyone who walked through her door felt like they were at home. She had a beautiful nature about her – she could merely touch your hand and you would feel better. Mary was our caretaker, our mentor, our doctor, our chef, our party planner, our chauffeur, our walking partner, our stylist, our therapist, our teacher and most importantly, our best friend. Mary had unending patience and always put others before herself. She leaves behind a legacy of love. The feeling of gratitude for life is something we've learned from Mary, who taught us to understand that it's the simplest moments in life that mean the most. "Mama knows". Born on August 2, 1957, Mary grew up in Burlington and Concord, MA and spent her summers boating, crabbing and exploring in Ogunquit, Maine with her family, which is where her love for the beach began. She graduated from Concord Carlisle High School and earned her bachelor degree in accounting from Bentley University where she met her beloved husband, William (Bill). After three years of continued wooing by Bill, they were married in June, 1986 and had been inseparable from that point forward; they were the true definition of soul-mates. Mary left us too soon and too suddenly on the morning of January 11, 2017 after suffering from a brain aneurysm at the age of 59, a tragic loss to all those who knew her. She had just come back from doing what she loved most – spending a week vacationing with her entire family on the beach. She will be dearly missed. Mary is survived by her devoted husband Bill McCurdy of 30 years and her loving children, Megan (29) married to Kevin Zygmunt, Ellen McCurdy (27), Bridget McCurdy (26), all of Boston, Grace McCurdy (22), William McCurdy (20), and cherished dog, Milly, all of Weston; her parents Tom and Ellen Conley of Maine; her sister Catherine, married to Robert Spencer of Wayland, and her brother Thomas Jr., married to Julie Conley of Burlington. She is also survived by her mother in law Elizabeth McCurdy of Newburg, NY as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws. All these she loved and touched deeply. Family and friends will honor Mary's life with visiting hours from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord, MA. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 16, 2017 at St. Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston, MA 02493. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing in Mary's name to St. Jude's Hospital (www.stjude.org) and/or Buddy Dog Humane Society, Sudbury, MA (www.buddydoghs.com). The family also asks that you spend time with your spouse and children, take a long walk (preferably on the beach) with your loved ones, and make a toast to lifelong friendships and beyond.
