Mary Lou (Marshall) Farmer, age 94 and longtime resident of Concord, passed away at her daughter's residence in Pepperell on December 31, 2024. She was the wife of the late Edward G. Farmer, who died in 2002.
Mary Lou was born in Boston on November 18, 1930 as the youngest of five children to her late parents, Edward and Mary (Graham) Marshall. She grew up in West Roxbury and was educated in the city's public school system. Some highlights during her youth, were trips with friends to Hampton Beach and attending dances, where she happened to meet her husband.
For many years, Mary Lou utilized her talent and passion for décor as an Interior Designer for Ethan Allen. In her later years, as a retirement job, she worked locally as a Floral Designer.
The Farmer family moved to Alden Road in Concord in 1966, where Mary Lou enjoyed tending to her gardens and embracing the serenity of nature and wildlife around their property. She was a faithful Boston sports fan, always rooting for her Red Sox and Patriots. She was a parishioner at Our Lady Help of Christians, and later, St. Bernard's Church at Holy Family Parish in Concord. She adored her grandsons and was actively involved in their lives as they grew. Heidi, her little grand dog, held a special place in her heart. Mary Lou also loved visits to Cape Cod in recent years.
She was the mother of Kevin G. Farmer of Tyngsboro and Brenda M. Farmer of Pepperell, and the grandmother to Ian G. Farmer of Lyndeborough, NH and Derek S. Farmer of Hudson, NH. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret, Edward, Francis and Barbara, and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours on Wednesday, January 8th from 5 to 7 pm at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, January 9th at 9:30 am from Dee Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 am in St. Bernard's Church at Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery.
