Obituary

Martin Eyllon, of Somerville, was the beloved father of Mara Eyllon and her partner Erik Czernikowski of Somerville, Oriana Montani and her husband James Montani of Lewiston, NY, and his late son, Asher Eyllon. He was the beloved former husband of Sarah Freas of Rockport, and the beloved grandfather of Benjamin Montani of Lewiston, NY. He was the only son of the late Mina Rosenberg Sucuveanu and Ruben Sucuveanu. He is remembered by many family and friends in Israel. Martin Marcu Sucuveanu Eyllon was born Dec 23, 1947 in Falticeni, Roumania. He immigrated with his parents to Ashdod, Israel in 1964. Martin lived in Kibbutz Yad Mordichai and served in in the Israeli Army during the Six Day War in 1967. He attended the Technion in Haifa before immigrating to New York City and completing his Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. He loved electronics and technology, and could reliably be found working on his latest invention. He worked in medical devices with Albert Einstein College of New York and Elcint of Haifa and Brookline. He founded Binary Techniques, Inc. in Somerville in 1984 where he developed an ultrasonic cardiovascular imaging system in conjunction with Boston Scientific. As President of Binary Techniques he was the recipient of an NIH grant for the development of an ultrasonic imaging system for dentistry. Even into his retirement, he continued to invent and was excited to file the patent for a recent device he had recently developed. Martin supported his children unconditionally, and with great pride, in all of their endeavors; he beamed to witness a keen humor in them. He loved music of all genres and especially loved to play guitar with Asher. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke it was insightful and often hilarious. Later on, he took to putting these words to paper, writing poetry. He loved bagels, perhaps more than anyone believed possible; his favorite was sesame with cream cheese and jam from the Bruegger's in Porter Square. It is difficult to imagine the many celebrations ahead without him, but we are so happy we were able to spend as much time together as we did. He will live on in our hearts and minds, in each birth, celebration, errant sesame seed, clementine peel, and apple stem. We are at peace knowing he lived a life full of love.
