IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha
Sexton
April 25, 1922 – December 1, 2022
Martha S. (Michalski) Sexton, of Lincoln, died at Life Care Center in Acton on December 1, 2022, at the age of 100. She was the wife of the late M. James "Jim" Sexton, who died in 1983.
Martha's parents, Andrew and Helen Michalski, along with her older brother, immigrated to the United States from Poland around 1910. Martha was born on April 25, 1922, as the sixth of seven children. The family lived in Chelsea for the first couple years of her life, before relocating to East Cambridge, where they helped in the operation of the family lunchroom in Kendall Square known as Tech Cafeteria.
In 1957, she married Jim, a World War II veteran and Cambridge firefighter, stationed across the street from her family's lunchroom. The couple soon settled in Lincoln. Following Jim's passing, Martha moved to Portsmouth, NH to live with her sisters, Claire and Mary. She formed a particularly close bond with her niece, Helen, along with Helen's children. In 1998, Martha returned to Lincoln as a resident of the Walden Woods community. She was an active parishioner for years at the nearby St. Joseph Church, and kept in touch with relatives and old friends. Those who came in contact with Martha will remember her sense of humor and interest in current events as well as sports.
She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Martha has been reunited in heaven with her siblings, Stanley, Maryanna, Michael, Steven, Helen and Clara.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside service on Thursday, December 8th at 12:30 pm in Lincoln Cemetery, Lexington Road, Lincoln.
From the Book of Ecclesiastes: Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return until God who gave it.
