Martha Drake Seale, of Concord, died peacefully at home on July 28, 2026, amidst the loving presence of her family. She was 95.

Martha was born on January 10, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the youngest daughter of Ernest and Marjorie Drake. She had two older sisters, Marjorie Maxey of Florida, and Mary Crockett from Michigan, both of whom predeceased her.

Martha attended high school in the Detroit area and graduated from Wayne State University of Detroit with a B.S. degree in education. She went on to teach as an Elementary School Teacher in the Detroit and Buffalo school systems.

She met her late husband, Leonard M. Seale, who also attended Wayne State University. Following their marriage in 1953, they enjoyed a life together spanning 71 years. Martha and Len had two children who were adopted: Ellen Hall (67) of Narragansett, RI and David Seale (65) of Chelmsford, MA.

Martha has five grandchildren: Chris Seale, Brandon Gilley, Nicole Seale, John Hall and Kylie Hall. She also has five great grandchildren: Aurora, Kayden, Vanessa, Leia and Charlotte. Martha loved her family and was always there for love, support and guidance.

After the adoption of her children, Martha was a full-time mother, living in Williamsville, NY. In 1967, she and her husband moved to Concord, MA, where they remained for the rest of their lives.

Martha kept busy with many hobbies. She excelled in knitting, worked on quilts and did family scrapbooking. She also belonged to multiple bridge groups. In the early 1970’s, her family joined Concord Country Club, where she learned to play golf, and in 1986, won the Women’s Championship. In her spare time, she was an active volunteer at Emerson Hospital.

After her children were out of junior high school, she got her Real Estate license and worked for Barrett Realty in Concord until her retirement.

Her family will miss her caring presence and loving attention she always showed to those she loved. Most of all, they will miss the fact she was an excellent cook and baker, especially “Grandma’s Cookies”. She will be dearly missed. Her family will remember and love both her and Len forever.

Family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Wednesday, August 12 from 5 to 7 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Her memorial service will be held on Friday, August 14 at 10 am in the Farrar Chapel of Dee Funeral Home, followed by interment at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.

Donations in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
