Obituary

Marillyn (Fairhurst) De Mott, 85, of Carlisle died Sunday September 14, 2014 in Concord. She was the wife of 62 years of the late James Mitchell De Mott who died in November, 2013. Born in New Jersey on April 16, 1929 she was the daughter of Thomas C. and Lillian Fairhurst. She attended schools in New Jersey and was a 1950 graduate of Douglas College in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Mrs. De Mott taught home economics during the 1970's at Greater Lawrence Regional Vocation Technical School in Andover. She became a resident of Carlisle in 1966 after residing in Concord for the previous seven years. Since 1961 she has been an active member of Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord, serving on multiple church committees and at the church's former Tri-Con Gift Shop in Concord. For 32 years at the church, she co-managed the Concord Antiques Show, an event in which proceeds are donated to charities. She was also involved as a volunteer with other charitable organizations in the area including Emerson Hospital in Concord, Concord Council on Aging and City Missionary Society in Boston. Survivors include her son James Mitchell De Mott Jr., her daughter Lynda De Mott Vogt, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late David Alan De Mott who died in 1978 and sister of the late Thomas Fairhurst. Services are private.
