Marie Ferri Ferrari, of Carlisle, MA, beloved mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the age of 84 after a valiant fight against a recurrence of lymphoma. Marie was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing.
Marie was born on October 9, 1939 on Prospect Avenue in the Bronx. She was the daughter of Marie (Mary) and Albert Ferri, and older sister of Albert and Louis Ferri. Marie grew up surrounded by her parents, brothers, and extensive extended family. Marie relished growing up in the Bronx and frequently told stories of her childhood and life running in and out of her apartment, apartments of her aunts, uncles and grandparents. She was a true city girl.
While growing up in the city, she took the subway to any and all events. She began her career at Western Union and worked her way up to become the Administrative Assistant to Western Union Executives. She loved all things New York City, all things Italian, all things Yankees, but most importantly, all things family.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Alexander (Sandy) in 2008. She leaves behind her dear son, Christopher Ferrari and his wife Bridget, and four adored grandchildren Joseph, Caroline, Sarah and Julia, all of Carlisle. Chris, Bridget, Joe, Caroline, Sarah and Julia were lucky enough to have Marie live with them for the last 6 years, enjoying lively debates at the dinner table, Chris's experimental cooking, Joe's quick wit, Caroline's attentive care, Sarah's interpretive art and dance, Julia's expansive stories and Bridget's attempts at soup. Marie also leaves behind lifelong friends Phyllis LaSelva, Janet Folino, Becky Doderer, Terry Bruno, Lisa Ankers, Doodle and Howie Walsh, cousins Florence, Patricia, Jackie, Anthony, Vivian plus so many more.
Family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Friday April 19th from 5 to 7 pm at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord, MA. Marie's Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Irene Parish, 181 East Street, Carlisle, MA on Saturday April 20th at 10:30 am. Please click here to view the church live stream . In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , an organization that was very dear to Marie. The family also wishes to thank the Carlisle Council on Aging & Human Services, Carlisle Paramedics and First Responders, and Lowell General ICU nurses and doctors that took loving care of Marie and her family in her last hours.
