Marie Ann Augello, age 95, formerly of Concord, died peacefully at The Residence at Penniman Hill in Hingham, Massachusetts on June 28, 2026.
She was born in Springfield, MA on August 20, 1930. The first of two children to Louis and Alice Robillard (née Bernard), the family was forced to move from Springfield because of the 1936 floods and started a new life in Cambridge, MA. In Cambridge, Marie and her brother Louis spent their childhood surrounded by parents and extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. She always had strong feelings for her family and was very proud of her Canadian-American heritage.
Upon graduating from high school, Marie began her working career as the bookkeeper for a business in Boston. She was 17 years old when she first met her future husband Vito (Bill) Augello. Marie always recollected how she noticed what a good dancer Bill was, and Bill would always say how they loved to dance the Jitterbug together. In November of 1950, Marie and Bill were married and moved to Woburn, MA to start their new life. In Woburn, their daughter Linda Augello Penniston and son William (Bill) Augello were born. In 1960, the family moved to Concord, MA, making it their home for over 60 years.
While raising her family, Marie enjoyed working around the house, sewing clothing and tending to her gardens. In her later years, she was secretary to the Concord Fire Chief. She spoke fondly about interacting with the firemen and citizens of the Town of Concord.
Upon retirement, spending weekends and vacationing at her lake house in New Hampshire gave her special joy and memories of swimming, boating and spending time with family and friends. Escaping the long winter months to Naples, Florida was always an event she looked forward to each year. Marie’s fondest memories of their days in Naples were Bingo nights with friends, ladies’ luncheons, card games, sunsets and when family would come for a visit. During their 75 years of marriage, Marie and her husband Bill travelled to many destinations and enjoyed life together. Their favorite spot to visit was Bermuda, which Marie and Bill always said was “the closest thing to Heaven.”
A marriage that spanned three quarters of a century, Marie and Bill were connected at the deepest of levels until the very end. They always wanted to be by each other's side and stayed strong for each other. An inseparable love that transcends death.
She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Alice Robillard, brother Louis “Pesky" Robillard and daughter Linda Penniston.
Marie is survived by her husband of 75 years, Vito (Bill) Augello; son, William Augello and wife Joyce Augello; granddaughter, Dawn Marie Penniston Murray and husband Lucas Murray; great grandchildren, Finnegan and Quinn; sister-in-law Donna Robillard; and all of her beloved nieces and nephews.
On July 11, 2026, family and friends will celebrate Marie’s life privately during a viewing at the Dee Funeral Home in Concord, MA, immediately followed by a graveside service at St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
