Margaret Kirkland (Vosler) MacKillop died suddenly on Saturday, December 21st, at Rivercrest in Concord. Born October 28th, 1916 in Melrose, she grew up in Briarcliff Manor (Westchester County) in New York, the oldest of three sisters. She graduated from Smith College in 1937, concentrating in piano and French. In 1938 she married Douglas Gunn MacKillop; they were married for 65 years, until his death in 2003. For most of their working lives, Margie was a secretary at Boshco, Inc. in Medford, where Doug also worked as a salesman of woodworking machinery. In 1962, Margie and Doug built a modern house on Farmer's Cliff Road and moved to Concord. Margaret was a wonderful gardener and cook, and always welcomed visiting family and friends – in winter, for the Bruins on TV, mulled cider, and basset hounds by the fire; in summer it was gin and tonics with home-grown salad on the big screen porch. The MacKillops also owned a cottage on Lake Pennesseewassee in Norway Maine, which Doug's father had built around 1912. Margaret loved word games, live jazz, food books, and the woods and history of the town of Concord. After retirement, she volunteered at the Concord Free Public Library. She made an effort to remember everyone's name. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Osborn of Salt Lake City, and 17 devoted nieces and nephews and their families.
