Margaret M. Donahue, age 71, of Acton, formerly of Concord, died peacefully, surrounded by her devoted family, on Monday, December 4, 2017 following a sudden illness.
Born in Boston on September 27, 1946, she was the loving daughter of the late Leo and Rosalyn (MacDonald) Donahue. She originally lived in Dorchester, prior to her family relocating to Concord. She subsequently graduated from Rose Hawthorne High School in 1965.
For the majority of her career, Margaret was the passionate Activities Director at Walden Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Concord. She lived for her work, as it brought her immense joy and pride. She touched countless lives and hearts, and brought love and happiness to the many patients and residents she cared for over the years.
Besides being an amazing caretaker, Margaret was a beloved mother and especially, a proud grandmother. She enjoyed a special bond with each of her nine grandchildren, and cherished every moment she spent with them.
She leaves behind her children, Amy Schmidt and her husband Ron of Newburyport, Douglas DeRome and Sara Matias of Maynard, Suzanne Quinn and her husband Michael of Glastonbury, CT, and Andrew DeRome and his fiancé Jeanine Ferullo of Burlington. Margaret will also be deeply missed by her adoring grandchildren: Briana, Faith, Matthew, Kyle, Joshua, Rory, Tess, Olivia, and Levi.
Family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Monday, December 11th from 9 to 10:45 am in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord.
