Lucia Ruth Piermarini, 91, of Concord, MA, died of natural causes at the Concord Health Care Center in Concord on Sunday, August 10, 2014. Ms. Piermarini was born in Leominster, Massachusetts on September 16, 1922, as the eldest daughter of Ester Gasperino and Venerina Casassa Piermarini. After graduating from Leominster High School in June of 1940, she attended Radcliffe College, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1943. She then attended Harvard University and received an MA degree in Fine Arts in 1944. Subsequently, she spent many years as a language teacher at Leominster High School. In 1958, she moved to Concord and assumed a language teacher position at Lexington High School that she held until her retirement. Ms. Piermarini was an ardent traveler and in 1946 made her first of many trips to Europe to visit her relatives in Italy to see how they fared as a result of WW II. During her retirement years, she enjoyed spending the winter months with her widowed mother in Florida. She is survived by two brothers, Muzio Donald Piermarini and his wife Nancy of Leominster, MA, Gasper John Piermarini and his wife Elfriede of McLean, VA; five sisters, Maria Laraine Carpenter and husband William of Birmingham, AL, Elva Geraldine Parsons of Maitland, FL, Esther Gloria Koehler and husband Eugene of Ventura, CA, Ruth Joan Nardone and husband Gerald of Concord, MA, Eugenia Sophie Willis and husband Hugh of Fountain Hill, Arizona, as well as by many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center, at 10 am, followed by the interment in the family burial plot in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Concord.
