Lt. Col. Dennis P. McCorry, USAF (Ret.), 65, of Westford, Mass., formerly of Concord, Mass. and Kearny, New Jersey died suddenly Wednesday December 23, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Dianne (Benson) McCorry for 41 years, and was the loving father of Kathleen C. McCorry of Salem, Mass.Born In Kearny, N. J. on February 11, 1944 he was the son of the late Patrick J. and Eleanor (Geigle) McCorry. He attended Kearny schools, was a 1962 graduate of Kearny High School and in 1966 received a BA in History from Rutgers University, Newark. He retired in 1989 as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force. During his twenty-three year career he served in Korea and as a navigator in Vietnam. He also worked on the AWACS and Joint STARS defense projects. While in military service, he earned a Masters degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.After leaving military duty Mr. McCorry worked as a defense contractor and was currently employed by Jacobs Technology at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Mass.His loving support and generous nature will be cherished by his family forever. He is also missed by his faithful Labrador Retriever Hershey.In addition to his wife and daughter, survivors include his brother Rev. Patrick G. McCorry of Middletown, Connecticut, his brother George M. McCorry and partner Greg J. Gebstadt of Chicago, Illinois, and by the large extended Benson, Lord and Kuss families.Visiting hours were held on Tuesday December 29th from 3 to 6 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord, Mass.Interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia at a later date.In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org/tribute)or to a charity of your choice.
