Funeral Service
Louise A. Richmond, a longtime resident of Concord, MA and most recently, resident of Nashua, NH, died peacefully in her home with loving family by her side on March 24, 2026.
She was born in Concord on October 18, 1945, as the daughter of the late Edward Richmond and Cora (Flannery) Richmond Cripps, and stepdaughter of the late Harris Cripps. Louise grew up on Bedford Street and was a 1963 graduate of Rose Hawthorne in Concord, a 1967 graduate of University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a B.A. in Sociology, and a 1990 graduate of Cambridge College with an M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology, maintaining lifelong friendships from her high school and undergraduate years.
Louise had a deep love of reading, and as a library card holder from childhood, was rarely without a book. In fact, she had an early career as a librarian in the Concord middle schools and public libraries. Her love of music brought her to many concerts including long-time favorites such as Leonard Cohen, Greg Brown, and Judy Collins.
Her life was dedicated to supporting children and families. With a passion for helping, she became a dedicated social worker for at-risk youth at Concord Assabet Adolescent Services, an administrator for group home programs at Saint Vincent's Services, a director at the Child Welfare League of America, and a marriage and family therapist, finishing her career at age 76. In addition to her own work, she inspired and mentored many colleagues throughout the years.
Family was incredibly important to Louise. Between decades of gatherings with her siblings, their children and her own two at her mother's home on Bedford Street, years of Easter Egg hunts and "Grandma Camp" for the grandchildren at her homes, time at the ocean at beaches in Plum Island and Westport, as well as holiday dinners and summer parties, there was no shortage of family togetherness.
Louise will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will be cherished by her husband Brian Pitts of Nashua, NH, siblings, Fran Dischino and her husband Sal of Acton, Barbara Logan of Chelmsford, the late Thomas E. Richmond of Concord, and Cora Richmond of Gloucester, daughter Heather Meeker Green of Medford, son Jason Meeker of Georgetown, as well as grandchildren, Ruby Green and Linus Green of Medford, Marshall Meeker and Owen Meeker of Georgetown, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and countless good friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 5 to 7 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. All are welcome to gather for an additional period of visitation in Dee Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 31 at 12 pm, with her funeral service beginning at 1pm. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bedford Street, in Concord.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Home Health and Hospice Care .
Arrangements have been entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
