Obituary

Linda Ann Penniston, of Concord, MA, passed away unexpectedly on November 2, 2022 at the age of 71.

Linda was born at the Naval Hospital in Chelsea, MA. A lifelong resident of Concord, Linda attended Rose Hawthorne Parochial School and was a graduate of UMass Amherst with a Bachelor's Degree in English.

Linda loved all things history, art and especially the theater. She participated in Summer-Stock productions with her favorite role being that of Nancy in Oliver Twist. She was also an avid skier and traveled all over New England chasing snow, including uphilling Tuckerman's Ravine. A woman of many talents, she was an incredible water skier, a self taught carpenter, gardener, ice skater, tennis player...you name it.

She is probably best known in town for being a beloved teacher in the Concord Public School System for over 30 years, with time teaching in Reading before that. She started teaching at the elementary school level but eventually moved to teaching English at CMS, which was her passion. She traveled around the country with Dimensions of Learning and earned her Masters in Education amongst other accreditations. She loved teaching and had only recently retired in the past few years. She looked fondly back at her time spent working with the tech and backstage crews for the Middle School play productions, her efforts with the students to fundraise for Water for South Sudan and of course working with each and every one of her students.

Although Linda was such a charismatic personality, she was happiest simply spending time with her family. She was an amazing mother to Dawn Murray (née Penniston) and grandchildren, Finnegan and Quinn. She loved watching her daughter and granddaughter play tennis and talking about history with her grandson and son-in-law, Lucas Murray. She loved reading books with her grandkids, taking them shopping and to shows in Boston. Her happiest days were spending time at the lake in New Hampshire with the kids; boating, reading and family cookouts.

Linda is survived by her parents - Marie and Bill Augello, her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Joyce Augello, her daughter and son-in-law, her two grandchildren & grandpups, her aunt, Donna Robillard, and her beloved cousins from Chelmsford and Long Island.

Linda's burial service is planned on Monday, November 7th for family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital ( www.stjude.org ) to support childhood cancer research or to the Decibels Foundation of Westford ( www.decibelsfoundation.org ) to support children with hearing loss.

Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
