Linda Marchi Frederick, 71, of Chelmsford, died suddenly at Lowell General Hospital on November 20, 2021. She was the dedicated wife of H. Renton Frederick, with whom she shared 23 years of loving marriage.
Born on June 1, 1950, Linda was raised in Concord, attending Rose Hawthorne School and Concord-Carlisle High School. Subsequently, she earned her undergraduate degree in English from Framingham State University, and her master's in counseling from Boston College. Her early career was spent as an English Teacher for the Fitchburg and Andover public school systems. Her work in education produced a passion for children and young people that Linda carried for the rest of her life. During the years she was teaching, she started and ran the Sunthing program at the Concord Free Public Library, receiving the MLA Public Relations award in 1978.
After working as a teacher, she joined AVCO systems in Wilmington, Mass and was their director/planner for Corporate events. For many years, Linda worked at Digital Equipment Corporation in Andover and remained with the company as it transitioned to Compaq, and finally Hewlett Packard. More recently, Linda was a United States Air Force Acquistion Program Manager assigned to Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts. She was assigned to the Operations Branch within the Enterprise IT and Cyber Infrastructure Division. In this role, she led the teams that designed and maintained websites and Sharepoint sites for the Air Force. In addition, she performed a wide range of leadership and managerial duties for the division to include training initiatives, human resources, and contract management.
She was a parishioner at St. Irene Parish in Carlisle, where she enjoyed being a member of the St. Irene Players, who organized the murder-mystery dinner and play that the church hosted in years past. She was a lover of theatre and travel, planning ski trips with family to Europe, and taking several memorable trips with her husband to destinations including Italy, Switzerland, Vietnam and Austria.
In addition to her beloved husband Ren, she leaves behind her mother, Rena (Bertolucci) Marchi of Concord, her brother, John Marchi of Concord, two cousins, Robert Salvetti of Groton, Mark Salvetti of Saugus, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Vitalino Marchi, her grandmother, Catherine Bertolucci, two uncles, Harold Bertolucci and Sergio Salvetti, and her aunt, Ida Salvetti.
Family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Friday, November 26th from 4 to 7 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Linda's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 27th at 10:30 am in St. Irene Parish, 181 East Street, Carlisle.
