Lesley Kay Hampton Noftsker of Billerica, Massachusetts died peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2018 at age 74. She had endured a gradual accumulation over 45 years of neurological damage from Multiple Sclerosis.
Lesley was born in Galesburg, Illinois on December 9, 1943 to Elizabeth Ritter Hampton and Howard H. Hampton. She attended University of Colorado Boulder before she married and had two children: Peter Anthony Simon, of Winthrop, Massachusetts and Andrew A. Simon (deceased).
While her children were young, Lesley worked at Information International, Inc. in Culver City, California developing business software. On that job she met her second husband, Russell Noftsker now of Billerica, Massachusetts who survives her.
Russell's career led to the formation, with numerous MIT colleagues, of Symbolics, Inc. The family moved to Massachusetts where he led that company. Lesley played a role in management information systems for Symbolics and mentored many young employees. Lesley also enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling and the company of her friends and relatives.
In addition to her husband Russell and son Peter, Lesley is survived by her daughter-in-law Gail Karagianis, (wife of the late Andrew Simon), and Gail's and Andrew's son, Andreas Simon, both of Winthrop; her stepdaughter Atsuko Belding of Billerica, Massachusetts; her sister Meredith Miller of Lakewood, Colorado, Meredith's husband Dave and their three children Lindsey, Martin and Mason; and Lesley's brother Howard H. Hampton of Denver, Colorado.
Services were private; a memorial celebration will be announced. Ms. Noftsker asked that she be cremated and placed in a columbarium.
It is requested that no flowers be sent and that those wishing to donate make a donation to their own favorite charity in their own name.
Arrangements are under the care of Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
