Obituary

Leo James Boyle Jr. passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, nearly one year after receiving a glioblastoma diagnosis.

Born to Marylyn and Leo Boyle in Weymouth, Massachusetts, Leo was the eldest of three sons. He enjoyed playing sports, hiking, and camping. He spent many days fishing with his Dad in Boston Harbour.

Leo graduated from Salem State University in 1990 with a bachelors degree in political science. He was involved with Student Government, Pub Night Trivia, and Youth Group where he made fast friends — many of whom he continued to see regularly at their annual Super Bowl weekend ski trip. Over 30 years, Leo only missed this weekend twice; each of which was to attend The Superbowl with his brother.

Upon graduation, Leo met Holly O’Sullivan and bonded over their shared love of sports at the South Shore Sports Center, where Holly allegedly beat him in one versus one basketball. From hiking the Grand Canyon to the mountains in Italy, their love of travel took them all over the world. They built a home and raised their three beautiful children (Colleen O’Sullivan, James Declan, and Brooke Ellen) in Concord, Massachusetts. Leo and his family visited his parents in Fort Myers, Florida every winter and enjoyed sunsets on the beach documented by his love of photography.

Family was very important to him. He was passionate about his involvement in coaching the kids as they grew up in basketball and softball/baseball. Teammates knew him for his kindness, positivity, and frequent fist bumps. He always went above and beyond, helping to rake the infield and planning “play days” for the high school softball team.

Leo was known for his gift of bringing people together. He was a member of Concord Country Club for almost twenty years where he organized a Sunday morning golf group that grew each year. He held an annual tournament with his hometown friends and loved playing with his coworkers on Thursday nights. Leo was the life of the party that always had a smile on his face and would be sure to make you laugh.

Leo was a proud father, a devoted husband, a loving son and brother, and a friend to all. He is survived by his beloved wife, Holly (O’Sullivan); his three children, Colleen, James and Brooke; his parents, Leo J. Boyle Sr. and Marylyn Boyle; and his brothers, Brian Boyle and Terry Boyle (Shannon). He is also survived by in-laws Terry and Rich Hoey, Tracy and Barry Coughlin, and Kevin and Julia O’Sullivan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

Family and friends are invited for visitation at the Dee Funeral Home (27 Bedford St, Concord, MA) on Monday, August 10th from 4-7 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held the following day at the Concord Country Club on Tuesday, August 11th from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Glioblastoma Foundation. [Glioblastoma Foundation]
