Lavinia (Willis) MacLeod, 98, a long time Concord, Mass. resident died Friday November 6, 2015 in West Kingston, Rhode Island. Known by many as, "Vinnie", she was the beloved wife of the late Alexander Robert ("Bob") MacLeod Jr. For several decades, Mrs. MacLeod was also a summer resident of Little Neck, in Ipswich, MA.
Born in Concord on October 5, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Allison Homer Willis and Clara Maude (Beers) Willis. She was graduate of Concord High School and later Pierce Secretarial School in Boston.
Mrs. MacLeod was employed as a private secretary for the Town of Concord for many years.
A life-long lover of the theater, Mrs. MacLeod enjoyed many years as a stage actress and was a past president of the Concord Players. She was also a long time member of Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord.
Survivors include her grandson Alexander Robert Macleod IV and his wife Bethany of Charlestown, Rhode Island, a granddaughter Kristin Rebekah MacLeod Ells and her husband Tony of Ashaway, Rhode Island, nine great-grandchildren, a niece and nephew Nancy and Bill Mumford of Manchester, Connecticut and her dear friends, John and Kathy Flynn and their family of Concord. She was predeceased by her only son, Alexander Robert "Sandy" Macleod III, his wife, Geraldine Faye MacLeod, and sister Gladys Willis Graulich.
A memorial service will be held on Friday November 20th at 12 Noon at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center followed by interment in the family burial plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Bedford Street, (Rte. 62) Concord. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. John C. Lombard, Senior Minister of Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord.
