Laurie R. Jones, 92, of Stow, formerly of Concord, passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2022. He was surrounded by his beloved wife of 65 years, Rita P. (Clancy) Jones, and their three children.

Laurie was born in Boston on July 12, 1930 as the dear son of the late John Jones Sr. and Elizabeth (Bowser) Jones. He grew up in Cambridge and attended Cambridge High and Latin. Shortly after graduating, Laurie would start his successful career working as a salesman for Stahleker Steel Corporation in Cambridge, selling structural steel. After 25 years, he went to work for the Turner Steel Company in West Bridgewater, where he acquired many customers and relationships that would last a lifetime. Laurie held the position of being a lifelong member of the American Welding Society. He was very loyal to his customers and companies throughout the New England area.

Laurie loved spending time with his family and friends by the ocean, whether it be at the summer home at Cape Cod or New Smyrna Beach, FL. He loved to swim, exercise and was a lifelong member of the YMCA. In earlier years, Laurie was very active with the Concord youth sports programs. He also loved music from the 1940's.

Laurie and Rita took their family on many vacations including camping and skiing trips up north, discovering new beaches on the coast and taking many exciting road-trips. Laurie was one of a kind and enjoyed every day of his life to its fullest.

In addition to leaving behind his wife Rita, he was the loving father of Donna and her husband Peter Hardy of Maynard, Susan Calhoun and her husband Brad of Topsham, VT and Kevin L. Jones of Hudson. He was the proud grandfather of Joshua, Justin, and Sarah Amidon, Johnathan and Rebecca Calhoun and great grandfather to Aveline Amidon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Ronald and John Jones, Jr., and sister, Doris Kimball.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours on Friday, December 16th from 4 to 7 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.  Laurie's Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center, on Saturday, December 17th at 10 am.  Burial will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Laurie's memory may be made to a non-profit close to his heart – YMCA of the USA .
