Lane Thomas Nielsen, 75, of Concord, MA, passed away on July 28, 2022, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. He was born in Attleboro, MA on September 16, 1946 to the late William and Rita Lane Nielsen. In 1971, Lane married Kathryn Fischer of Belleville, IL. Lane and KK were happily married for 50 years. Lane graduated from Northeastern University, received his MBA from Suffolk University, and pursued a career in consumer-packaged goods at the Gillette Company in Boston. He formerly resided in Salem, MA. In 1990, Lane transitioned into the natural products industry and moved to Kennebunk, ME as the Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Tom's of Maine. He continued pioneering the natural products industry serving in a similar executive role at Seventh Generation in Burlington, VT. In 2015, he and his wife moved back to Salem to have access to the exceptional medical care in Boston. In 2019, they relocated to Concord, MA to be close to family. In his free time, he enjoyed running, biking, playing golf and tennis, walking the dog along the beaches in Kennebunk, camping on the Allagash, and skiing with family and friends. In his retirement, he became an avid reader and had a passion for news and current events. He enjoyed a good debate as much as a good laugh. His optimistic spirit, sense of humor, and incredible strength to move forward in the face of health adversity was an inspiration to everyone he met. His biggest treasures were his family, friends, and beloved pets. He is survived by his wife KK, his son, Tucker Nielsen and his wife Megumi of Concord, MA, his daughter, Kara Nielsen Gordon and her husband Michael of Portland, ME, and his 5 grandchildren, Liam, Kai, and Tyler Nielsen, and Lane and Tessa Gordon, who gave him tremendous joy. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Lane's life during a memorial gathering at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord, MA on Saturday, August 6th from 2 to 4 pm, with a time of remembrance beginning at 3:30 pm. The family respectfully requests that all who attend follow current Covid protocols. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lane's honor to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute , Brigham and Women's Hospital or The Humane Society .
