Knut Arne Hansen, 57, passed away suddenly early on Saturday morning, November 27, 2021, at his home.
Knut lived his life revolved around his passions: travel (aeronautics, maps), birding, photography, and family. He loved his life, lived in the present and filled every moment of every day. He was intellectually curious about everything in his life.
He touched many lives with his multiple interests, and he will be missed by those who knew him. He loved to stay active, especially being outside in nature for birdwatching, hiking, boating and camping. An avid squash player, he had a tight circle of friends that he would meet up with at a local club. Most recently, given his love of woodworking, he took on an extensive home renovation project to convert a cabin in the woods.
He was a humble man - with a gentle manner and kind soul.
Knut lived the early part of his life in Oslo, Norway, and completed his studies at Embry-Riddle, majoring in Aeronautics. He moved to the US in his 20s and attended flight school at North American Institute of Aviation.
Knut spent many years in the transportation industry, working as a pilot for different airlines, most recently with JetBlue, based in Boston, Massachusetts.
Knut is survived by his loving wife, life partner, soulmate, travel companion - Alma Tcruz. He was her rock and best friend. Knut had a globally dispersed family: his parents Arne and Gerd Hansen in Norway, his daughter Elizabeth in Washington State and sister, Laila Hansen, also in Norway. His extended family includes many aunts, uncles, cousins, niece Emily, nephew Kristian and his very close friend/brother, Tommy Pedersen. His extended family also includes many in-laws: Bert and Margie Tcruz, Irene Shimizu, David, Joseph and Jonathan Tcruz and nephews Josiah and Gabriel.
