Lincoln MA - Kenneth Blackler, 85 passed away on October 4th2010 at Chetwynde Golden Living Center, Newton MA. Husband of Audrey (Upton) Blackler.
Born June 12, 1925 in Liverpool England he was the son of the late Frederick and Alice (Williams) Blackler.
Mr. Blackler lived in Liverpool until 1956 when he moved his family to the United States. Living in Boston for a period, settling in Attleboro where he resided until moving to Lincoln in 2007.
Kenneth served in the Royal Navy during World War II as a radar technician stationed in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Upon his return he completed his education as a Chemist and after moving to the US, directed research and development for various firms in the Attleboro and Providence area.
After retirement he volunteered with Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts, and the Attleboro Art Museum. Kenneth traveled extensively, often taking his grandchildren on tours of England.He enjoyed the offerings of the Elder Hostel program where he and Audrey refined their painting skills.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, daughters Pamela Martin and husband John of Northborough MA, Valerie Giordano, and husband William of McDonough GA, son Peter Blackler and wife Lindsay of Lincoln MA, and sister Brenda Taylor of Danvers. Predeceased by his youngest daughter Jennifer. Survived by seven grandchildren; Gabrielle and Devon Martin, Lindsay, Lee, Meghan, and Kaitlin Giordano, and Prescott Blackler.
At Mr. Blacklers request there were no visiting hours or funeral.
