Kelly E. (Hanley) Goode's valiant battle with cancer ended August 2, 2015, when she died surrounded by her family and friends. Her mind is at ease and her soul is now at rest.
Born September 5, 1959 in Worcester, she was a daughter of Edward A. Hanley (deceased) and Mary A. (Bowe) Hanley. Kelly is survived by her three children, Mary, Catherine, and Adrian and her loving husband Larry, all of Concord, MA. Kelly also is survived by her sisters, Susan McAuliffe (Michael), Cynthia McKinnon, Mary Anne Hanley and Kerry Bradshaw (Barry); in-laws Robert Ercolino, Catherine Feinberg, , Geraldine Goode, Christopher Goode (Tony Berson) Patrick Goode, and Aileen Kitsock (Kevin), and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by the late Adrian Goode, Helen Goode, Michael Goode , Mary Goode Ercolino, Mitchell Feinberg and Mary Ellen Goode.
Kelly's heart truly felt the beauty of family and friendship. She maintained close relationships with many friends from childhood and beyond until her passing.
Kelly grew up in Worcester, MA and was a 1977 graduate of Doherty High School. She received her bachelor degree from Skidmore College in 1981 and a master's degree from Georgetown University.
Kelly started her career in television news working at CBS news in Washington DC, and then moved to ABC News in New York City. She then moved closer to home, working for WGBH TV Channel 2 in Boston, MA where she earned an Emmy for her work.
Kelly began her married life on Nantucket Island where she focused on raising a family and working with theater productions along with her children.
She was an avid political activist, and loved spending time volunteering for political causes and discussing politics and history with her dad.
She also loved to play tennis and swim, but nothing was more important to her than the role of mother and what a wonderful mother she was. She was very active in the daily activities of her children as well as encouraging her nieces and nephews.
Kelly was an active member of Holy Family Parish in Concord MA. Kelly will be remembered by her large family and her many friends for her love, loyalty and generosity of spirit.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 7th from 4 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday, August 8th at 10 am in St. Paul Parish, corner of Bow & Arrow Streets (Harvard Square), Cambridge.
Burial to follow at 12:30 pm in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bedford Street, Concord.
