Kellen Jonah Horwitz of Acton, Massachusetts, age 3. Kellen passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his mother, father and sister. He died of complications associated with his rare genetic condition, Cardiofaciocutaneous (CFC) Syndrome.
Although non-verbal, Kellen was an adorable and social little boy who loved to be surrounded by family and friends. He was blessed to have a caring and dedicated early intervention team who spent countless hours pushing him to his limits, but also showering him with love. At three years old he began attending the CASE Collaborative in Bedford. He thrived there with wonderful teachers and inspiring classmates. In fact, sometimes his family could even be a bit boring after all the excitement he had at school.
Kellen was given his name by his amazing big sister, Harper. Kellen means "Mighty Warrior" and it could not have been a more apt moniker for a little boy who endured multiple heart and GI surgeries as well as ongoing pain associated with his medical condition. Despite all the obstacles he had in his short life, Kellen wanted nothing more than to gift the person lucky enough to be snuggling with him a smile and an overly infectious laugh.
Kellen was the beloved son of Hilton and Laura Horwitz and the adoring brother of Harper Horwitz. He was the dear grandchild to Rodney Horwitz and the late Joan Horwitz of South Africa, Donna Templeton and Sandy Powers of New Jersey, and Eugene Templeton of Pennsylvania. He was the nephew of Lauren Beckwith of South Africa, Gene Templeton of Seattle WA, and Sarah Keane of Portland, Oregon. His cousins include Luke Beckwith, Rhys Templeton, Evie Templeton and Jack Keane.
A funeral service for Kellen will take place on Monday, August 10th at 10 am in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord, MA and the burial will be private.
A shiva service will take place at the family's home at 30 Faulkner Hill Road, Acton, MA 01720 on Monday evening from 5:30 to 9:30 pm.

Arrangements are under the care of the Dee Funeral Home of Concord.
