Keistutis Peter "Pete" Devenis, of Concord, died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 28th at the age of 95.

Peter was born in the spring of 1928 in Waterbury, Connecticut but the family relocated to Lithuania, the country of their origin, in the summer of 1928. Due to Soviet hostility in 1940, his mother made the difficult decision to return with her children to Connecticut, where the family was not reunited with his father until the fall of 1942.

Peter was a graduate of the Mount Hermon School (1945), where he developed his interest in soccer, Yale College (1948), where he was on the Yale Varsity Soccer Team and developed his interest in golf, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1950, 1956), with BS, MS, and CE degrees in Civil Engineering.

In 1951, Peter was drafted into military service and served in the US Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he was assigned to the Post Engineers Office of the Scientific and Professional Program.

Peter worked for his entire professional career as a Civil Engineer in the field of hydraulics on pollution control at Charles A. Maguire & Associates. As Environmental Division Director, he completed many projects in foreign countries. In Boston, the Charles River Dam, for which he won the Presidential Award for Design Excellence in 1983, and the Boston Harbor-Deer Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, were two of his major projects.

Peter enjoyed various hobbies, particularly golf, travel, philately, poker, and Soccer World Cup matches. He was President of Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord, played courses in 30 countries and more than half of the Top 100 Golf Courses of the World, and achieved five holes-in-one.

He is survived by his wife, Inga Devenis, and daughter, Luanna Elena Devenis, of Lexington. Peter was predeceased by his son, Jonas Ellis Devenis; former wife, Luanna Ellis Devenis; brother, Algirdas Devenis; and sister, Dalia Bobelis.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Saturday, June 17th from 11 am to 1 pm. Following the visitation, his celebration of life will continue at 1:30 pm at the Nashawtuc Country Club, 1861 Sudbury Road, Concord.
