Kathleen Coyle, 93, of Carlisle, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Emerson Hospital in Concord.
She was born in Washington DC on May 25, 1923, the daughter of the late Albert Freeman Coyle and Margaret (Kennedy) Coyle.
From 1940 until 1944, Ms. Coyle attended Goucher College in Baltimore. She enlisted in the United States Navy, and served her country during World War II. Following her discharge from the military, she earned a Masters degree from the University of Chicago, and her PhD from Harvard University in Cambridge.
Prior to her retirement, she took pride in her work as a school psychologist.
A longtime Carlisle resident, she was a reporter with the Carlisle Mosquito, active in the Garden Club, and with local government on wetlands conservation for many years. She also took great interest in politics on all levels. She was a member of First Religious Society.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Shew Coyle, two nephews, Mark and Bruce Coyle, one niece, Margaret Coyle, and many caring friends. She was also the sister of the late Donal Kennedy Coyle.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, May 5th at 10:45 am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne. A memorial service will take place on Friday, May 5th at 4 pm in First Religious Society, 27 School Street, Carlisle.
