Obituary

Katherine "Kathy" M. Darcy, 81, of Watertown, MA, passed away on April 28th after a battle with Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time she passed, just as she was during her life.

Kathy was born on October 5th, 1943 to Joseph and Alice Tobin in Newton, MA. She was the fourth of five children in a bustling Newtonville household.

After graduating from the nursing program at the Shepard-Gill school in 1963, Kathy embarked on a remarkable 54 year career in nursing and healthcare. Her dedication and passion for her work were unwavering, leaving a lasting impact on all those she cared for.

Kathy had two children, Jennifer and Bill, whom she was proud to have adopted and to whom she was a fantastic mother. Her nurturing nature and dedication to her family were unparalleled. She was a fiercely passionate mother and friend who filled her home with warmth and kindness. Whether it was supporting Jennifer through law school or encouraging Bill to pursue his passions, she was a constant cheerleader and supporter.

Kathy excelled at motherhood and was the foundation of her family. She was an excellent listener and caregiver who always knew the right thing to say. Her sociable nature and love for her family and friends were evident in the many connections she made along the way, and in the way her door was always open.

During her life, Kathy also made time for her hobbies. She had a passion for scrapbooking, card making, and volunteering, which she'd continue until passing. Kathy was especially proud of her special initiation into the Chi Omega Fraternity at the Chi Alpha Chapter at Tufts University. She joined her daughter and later welcomed her granddaughter into the Sisterhood.

Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Alice Tobin and her brother Edward, Kathy is survived by her children, Jennifer Taddeo and husband Chris Irving of Medford, and Bill Darcy and wife Lauren Kohler Darcy of Newton, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Alice Rose Taddeo and Ryan Taddeo.
