Karen E. (Kelly) Hannon, age 61, of Concord, died peacefully at home on Sunday, August 22, 2021. She was the wife for 37 years of Mark E. Hannon.
Born in Waltham on August 11, 1960, she was the daughter of John Kelly of Maynard and the late Eileen (Dennehy) Kelly. Karen was raised in Maynard, and graduated from the town's high school in 1978.
She was employed at Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard for 17 years as a Coordinator for the College Placement office. Later, she worked at GSI as a Customer Support Specialist.
Karen will be remembered for her love of gardening and spending time at her lake home in Weare, New Hampshire.
In addition to her husband and father, Karen leaves behind her daughter, Traci Hannon of Concord, two brothers, Brian Kelly and John Kelly Jr., both of Maynard, and one sister, Helen Simmons of Lowell. She was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews, Nicholas and Sarah Kelly, Jacquelyn and Meghan Simmons and Jennifer and Steven Alsen, and is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. She was also the mother of the late Mark E. Hannon, her beloved "Markie", who passed away in 2013.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours on Saturday, August 28th from 9 to 11 am, followed by a funeral service at 11 am in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Burial at Glenwood Cemetery in Maynard is private. The family kindly requests the use of masks if one is not vaccinated.
