Obituary

Julia Bellinger Kingman of Croton-on-Hudson, New York, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Phelps Memorial Hospital. She was married to Lauren C. Kingman, Jr. for 63 years. Born on March 5, 1919, in Pyrites, New York, she was the daughter of James Erwin and Caroline (Campbell) Bellinger. She attended Syracuse University and graduated from Moravian College for Women in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1941. Her degree was in Medical Technology, which, at that time, was an emerging profession. Since joining the Delta Gamma sorority at Syracuse, she remained a lifelong, avid supporter of the sororitys charitable work. Julia was married in 1943. Before her marriage, and for several years thereafter, she was employed in medical and industrial laboratory work in Yonkers and Ossining. In 1947, she and Lauren moved to Croton, where she devoted herself to raising her four children. Julia was active in Our Saviour Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed attending Croton Caring Committee functions. Her family, friends, neighbors and church community were of great importance to her. She was sensitive to the needs of those around her. In her quiet way, she supported many individuals through difficult times, and celebrated with them in times of joy. Julia is survived by her husband, Lauren C. Kingman, Jr. and her children, Lauren C. Kingman III, Karolyn Kingman, Julie Kingman and Allen Kingman. She is also survived by two brothers, Thomas Bellinger and James Bellinger, one sister, Beryl Pryor, four grandchildren, Autumn Berg and Douglas, Allyson, and Rebecca Kingman and one great-grandson, Griffin Berg. A memorial service and celebration of her life was held on Saturday, Februay 24th, 2007 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Croton. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 30th at 12 noon in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord, for both Lauren C. Kingman, Jr. who died on January 6, 2010 and Julia Kingman. Officiating will be Rev. Lilian Warner of Concord and members of the Corinthian Lodge A.F. and A.M. of Concord will conduct a Masonic service. Officers of the U.S. Army will present military honors.
