Juergen Carl Herman Lemmermann, of Carlisle, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. He was 80 years old.
Born in Bremen, Germany on September 24, 1937, Juergen was the son of the late Albert and Auguste (Busch) Lemmermann. He obtained a business degree in Germany and came to America in 1961, at the age of 24 to join his first wife Uta (Wellhoener). They settled in Portland, ME with family, and then moved to Carlisle in 1968 where they raised their 2 children. He later married his wife Karin (Szegvari) in 1987, where Carlisle remained their home.
Juergen spent the majority of his career pursuing cutting edge technology, and most notably acted as Vice President of Operations for 20 plus years for Verbex (Voxware), a voice recognition hardware and software company in Cambridge MA, until he retired in 2007.
Juergen was a skilled carpenter and completed several projects for his homes in Carlisle. He was an avid automobile enthusiast, with a particular interest in Land Rover, Citroen and Austin-Healey. He enjoyed time in the garage as well as on the road. Outdoor adventures were high on his list. He enjoyed camping in Maine, often in his Land Rover with family. He loved to travel with his wife Karin, and did so often regardless of the destination. He enjoyed cooking and was quite the chef in years past. Juergen was a lover of good food and wine. He enjoyed good company with a scotch and the more than occasional inappropriate joke.
He was a people person, able to make people feel at ease with his humor and direct way of seeing things. Juergen was easy going, upbeat and well-liked by all those who knew and worked with him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Karin (Szegvari) Lemmermann, children with his first wife, Marc Lemmermann and wife Marguerite of Chelmsford, MA, Tanya (Lemmermann) Graham and husband Chris of Windham, NH; two stepchildren, Ingo Szegvari and wife Margaret of Carlisle, MA, and Anya (Szegvari) McDavitt and husband Bill of Ipswich, MA; as well as eight grandchildren, Tyler and Jaclyn Graham, Emma and Asa Szegvari, Carter and Spencer McDavitt, Maks and Maarii Lemmermann.
