Judith Orloff

Nov 18, 1942 — Jul 5, 2026

Judith "Judy" Orloff, 83, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, at Care Dimensions in Lincoln, following a period of hospice care.

Born in Easthampton, Massachusetts, on November 18, 1942, she was the daughter of the late William and Dorothea (Sander) Mesh. Having spent her childhood years in various rural communities in upstate New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, Judy developed an enduring appreciation for the simplicity and beauty of farming community life.

In 1970, Judy married Lawrence Orloff. Together, they settled in Foxborough to raise their three children, later residing in Amherst and Wayland for a decade each.

A woman of intellect, Judy earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Hartwick College and a Master’s degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University. She then began her career as a high school biology teacher. She subsequently obtained a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Boston University. Her professional life was a testament to her heart for service; she spent fifteen years as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the mentally disabled, followed by fifteen years providing compassionate care to the elderly as a home health aide. She also devoted many years to supporting her community as an ESL tutor for immigrant populations.

Judy’s life was defined by a profound spiritual journey. Rooted in a Christian upbringing, she later embraced the Baha’i Faith, becoming a dedicated member of her community. She found great joy in teaching children's virtues classes, participating in spiritual study groups, and working with others on various planning committees. She always loved to talk about spiritual topics with others and joined many interfaith devotional gatherings. Her leisure time was often spent writing to friends and family, watching basketball, reading, and singing with the Wayland Golden Tones Chorus.

Judy is survived by her loving children: her son, Darren Orloff and his wife, Ji, of Concord; her daughter, Maura Copeland and her husband, Phillipe, of Boston; and her daughter, Roushan Rice of Frederick, Maryland. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Everest, Whitney, Douglass, Desmond, Nyhla, and Hadley. She is also survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Meade and her husband, David, of Pittsford, New York, and Linda Fineschi of Rome, Italy; as well as her sister-in-law, Nancy Mesh of Burnt Hills, New York.

Private family services were held at the Orloff family plot in Lakeview Cemetery, Wayland.

Memorial gifts may be made in Judy’s name to Care Dimensions Hospice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
