Obituary

Judith (Judy) Weismann Dennen, 74, of Concord, died peacefully, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on December 9th, 2017, from Primary Progressive Aphasia, a rare form of dementia. She was born on March 20, 1943 in Dedham, Massachusetts to Clarence and Muriel Weismann. Judy grew up surrounded by extended family with whom she shared wonderful times at Boot Pond in Plymouth. Judy attended Dedham schools and graduated from Chapel Hill School in Waltham. While at Chapel Hill, Judy met a classmate from Guatemala, setting in motion what would become an international bond between their two families, spanning four generations. Judy graduated from The College of William and Mary, following in the footsteps of her mother and paving the way for her younger brother, Paul. Judy was married to the love of her life, David Dennen, the week after graduation on June 26, 1965 after meeting at age 16 on a blind date. They were married for 52 years and raised their sons Peter, and Chris in Concord, MA where they lived for almost 50 years. Judy was very involved in her community, teaching first grade at the Ripley school and taking on a multitude of important volunteer roles. Her passion for connecting with people from all over the world prompted her to earn an M. ED in ESL which she then employed to teach immigrants from Asia in Concord and at Middlesex Community College. Judy traveled extensively but always loved spending summers at her home in Sebago Lake, Maine. She will be forever remembered for her fierce love of family, commitment to friends from all over the world, civic engagement, artistic talents in the area of arts and crafts, and warm sense of humor. She is survived by her brother Paul, of Oakland, California, husband David, son Peter and daughter-in-law, Nicole Dennen of Cumberland, Maine and son Chris Dennen and daughter-in-law Sarah Larson-Dennen of Durham, New Hampshire, and grandchildren Katie and Lauren Dennen and Reed Larson Dennen. Visiting hours at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center will be held on Friday December 15, 2017 from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Care Dimensions, Kaplan Family Hospice House, 75 Sylvan Street, B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
