Joseph F. Henry, 89, formerly of Carlisle and North Reading died Wednesday January 3, 2018 in Lincoln. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire (Frank) and the late Jean (Harriott).
Born in Fall River on December 21, 1928 he was the son of the late Thomas Henry and the late Mary Agnes (Halpin) Henry. He was a 1947 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School in Fall River and later received a Bachelors degree from Durfee Technical Institute in 1951.
Mr. Henry served in the United States Army as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict.
He was married to his late wife Claire in 1953. For many years he worked for Converse Inc. as Vice-President of Materials Management. He retired in 1988 to take full time care of his wife Claire who died in 2000.
A Carlisle resident from 1963 until 1984 he was active at St. Irene's Parish as a CCD teacher and Eucharistic Minister. He also enjoyed volunteering at Carlisle's Old Home Day celebrated each year on the Fourth of July. He was a Life member of the Knights of Columbus.
In 1984 Mr. Henry became a resident of North Reading where he was a member of the Thomson Country Club and also served as a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
He was the father of Paula H. Diener and her husband Jeffrey of Bristol, CT, David J. Henry and his wife Deborah of San Francisco, CA and Christine H. Denaro and her husband Paul of Concord, grandfather of Adam Diener and his wife Sarah and Elizabeth McCoy and her husband Ryan, both of CT and Rachael Henry of CA and great grandfather of Henry and Jack Diener and Claire McCoy. He was also the brother of Joan D'Adamo of Tiverton RI, Peggy Kenney of Harwich and the late Thomas and Edward Henry, Eleanor MacDonald, and Anne Burke, and is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours for Mr. Henry are on Friday, January 5th from 4 to 7 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 6th from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center at 9 am followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 10 am. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.
Concord's town flag will be flown at half-staff on Saturday, January 6th in recognition of Mr. Henry's service to his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
