Obituary

Joseph R. Crowley, 84, of Maynard, formerly of Boxborough, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia A. (Powers) Crowley, who passed away in 2010.

Born in Cambridge on April 9, 1939, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mildred (Celi) Crowley. While growing up in Belmont, he was active in many sports, which included speed skating, hockey, football, and baseball. After graduating from Belmont High School, he served in the United States Navy for four years.

Joe owned and operated Crowley Carpentry for over 30 years. A forty-seven year resident of Boxborough, he took pride in completing each project with great skill and attention to detail for his many customers in and around the surrounding communities.

Those who knew Joe will remember his passion for cars. He took great care in meticulously maintaining and often refurbishing automobiles in his collection, which over the years ranged from his 1940 Ford Woody to a Shelby Mustang. He looked forward to attending car shows and spending time with friends each week who shared his passion for cars. Above all, Joe will be remembered most as a selfless and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his family and close friends and would always go above and beyond for them.

He leaves behind two sons, Joseph J. Crowley and his wife Kimberly of Westwood and Edward J. Crowley and his wife Kathryn of Needham, three grandchildren, Abby, Jack, and Camryn Crowley, along with several dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours on Tuesday, January 2nd from 4 to 7pm in Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
