Obituary

Joseph Severino Antognoni passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 6th. He was 95, born in Concord Massachusetts to Secondo Antognoni & Ersilia Fraticelli Antognoni from Fano, Italy. One of 8 children, Joe outlived all 7 siblings. Joe attended Concord Public Schools, active in baseball and tennis. He attended Northeastern University in Boston, receiving a Bachelors' Degree in Industrial Engineering with High Honors and an MBA. He was named to Who's Who in American Colleges. Joe entered the Navy shortly after college, serving as an electronics specialist at bases in Key West, Florida as well as Havana, Cuba. After his service in the Navy, he opened an electronics store in Concord Center. In 1950 he wed Suzanne Servais and settled in Concord on Sudbury Road. He was subsequently hired as an industrial engineer, followed by work as a financial analyst, and finally as a vice president of investments until his retirement at age 90. Excelling in all sports, he remaining active athletically his entire life. In Carlisle, his community service included town little league, cub scouts, boys scouts, finance & school committees, housing authority, and planning board. He was a lifetime member of the Concord Lions Club, devoting many hours of active participation, supporting their mission of eye health & research. In 2001 he was awarded most Honored Citizen of Carlisle for all of his dedicated work to the town. He leaves behind his devoted wife Suzanne of 66 years: his sons Peter Bulkely Antognoni and his wife Babette of Lowell, MA, Paul Owens Antognoni and wife Cheryl of Frederick, MD: his daughters Susan A. Hutchinson of Littleton, MA and Joan Servais Antognoni of Maynard, MA: 6 grandchildren; Suzanne Hutchinson Fliter and husband Michael Fliter of Pepperell, MA, Laura Antognoni Crane and husband Taylor Crane of Rutland, MA, Joseph J. Antognoni of Lowell, MA, Brock, Cole, and Reece Antognoni of Frederick, MD, as well as 2 great grandchildren: Alyssa and Shawn Fliter of Pepperell, MA and many loving nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 13th from 5 to 8 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord, MA. Funeral will be private, followed by burial at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord. Concord's Town Flag will fly at half-staff on Friday, October 14th in recognition of Mr. Antognoni's service to his country in the United States Navy. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Carlisle Council on Aging, 66 Westford Street, Carlisle, MA c/o Angela Smith or to the Concord Lions Club, P.O. Box 382, Concord, MA 01742. Arrangements are under the care of the Dee Funeral Home of Concord.
