Obituary

John J. "Jack" Stanlake, 97, of Concord died Monday December 3, 2018 in Chelsea. He was the beloved husband of 42 years of the late Shirley G. (Kratoville) Stanlake who died in 1992. Born in Portland, Oregon on February 17, 1921 he was the son of the late William R. and Marie (Delaney) Stanlake. He attended schools in Oakland, California and worked at the Stock Exchange in San Francisco prior to entering the United States Navy in 1942. He served in the Navy for 21 years during Word War II and Korea, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1963. Following retirement from military service, Mr. Stanlake was employed at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston as a unit coordinator, retiring after 25 years in 1989. He came to Concord in 1952, served as sexton at the former St. Bernard's Parish in Concord, and also was a Past Grand Knight of the Concord Council Knights of Columbus #287. He was the loving father of Marie D. Stanlake of Stow and her partner Russell A. North, devoted grandfather of Kelsey G. DeCosta of Stow and her partner Evan T. Repucci and is also survived by many adored nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Thursday December 6th from 4 to 7 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. His funeral will be held on Friday December 7th at 8 am from the Dee Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 9 am. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Friday December 7th in recognition of Mr. Stanlake's service to his country in the U. S. Navy. His funeral will be held on Friday December 7th at 8 am from the Dee Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center at 9 am. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Concord.
