John P. "Jack" Roosa, Jr., 87, of Concord, MA, formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was the beloved husband for 56 years of the late Betty (Moore) Roosa who died in 2010. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 11, 1925, he was the son of the late John P. Roosa, Sr. and Margaret (Reidinger) Roosa. He attended Cincinnati public schools, and graduated in 1943 from Withrow High School in Cincinnati. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Navy and returned to graduate from the University of Cincinnati, where he studied to become a Pharmacist. For many years, prior to his retirement in 1990, he was the owner, operator and Pharmacist at Lowenthal's Pharmacy in the Bond Hill area of Cincinnati. A fifty-year resident of Wyoming, Ohio, he was a member of the Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati. In 2007, he and his late wife Betty moved to Newbury Court in Concord, MA to be near his children. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed collecting coins and stamps. He will be most remembered by those who knew him for his kind nature and self-effacing humor. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Carol Roosa and her husband Paul Kelly of Concord, MA and Nancy Ellen Roosa and her husband Alex Moot of Medford, MA, one son, John P. Roosa III and his wife Ayu Ratih of Vancouver, Canada and Jakarta, Indonesia, five grandchildren, Nat and Seth Kelly, Kaly and Ellis Moot and Tossan Roosa, one sister, Louise Cook and two nephews, Mark and Jay Cook, all of Seattle, Washington. Service: A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 21st at 2 PM in the Duvall Chapel of the New England Deaconess Association, 80 Deaconess Road, Concord, MA. Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Friday in recognition of Mr. Roosa's service to his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
